Saturday , January 20, 2018 - 3:53 PM

BRETT HEIN, Standard-Examiner Staff

Weber State women’s basketball was locked in a battle at Portland State through three quarters Saturday afternoon, but its offense fell cold and the Vikings claimed a 77-64 win to knock the Wildcats out of first place.

Larryn Brooks scored 21 points — on seven 3-pointers — and dished seven assists for the Wildcats (13-5, 5-2 Big Sky), who finished the third quarter locked in a 58-58 tie.

Her final 3 came with 7:04 left in the fourth quarter to give Weber a 64-62 lead. The Wildcats wouldn’t score again.

Portland State (10-8, 4-3) finished the game on a 15-0 run for the win.

Emily Drake scored 21 points of her own, knocking down three 3-pointers and grabbing eight rebounds for the Wildcats.

PSU’s Sidney Rielly matched that game-high with 21 points, seven in the fourth quarter, to lead the Vikings’ charge. Courtney West added 18 points and 13 rebounds in the win.

No other Wildcats were in double-figure scoring. Jocelyn Adams pulled down 10 rebounds and Jaiamoni Welch-Coleman dished seven assists.

Weber State returns home for three consecutive contests, beginning with a game against Idaho State at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27.
